RIVERSMEET LEISURE CENTRE HEALTH AND FITNESS GYM UPDATE

The Trustees and Staff at RiversMeet Leisure Centre are proud and excited about the newly updated and extended gym which opened in January 2019 and the new membership scheme we introduced in October 2018, two exciting new ventures which launched from October 2018 to January 2019.

Riversmeet has gone from strength to strength and there was a need for a gym update. Due mainly to the increased numbers that use the gym and the equipment starting to be uneconomically viable to repair and a newly extended revised gym offering was needed.

Gillingham Community Leisure Trust who manages Riversmeet have had long and deep discussions with the Riversmeet team and thought it best to raise funds for the new gym to come to fruition. Alongside these discussions was the need to extend the gym as it is simply not big enough to cater for the current customer base and the expected increased customer base. After many months of negotiations with gym equipment providers, flooring experts and builders the decision was made to bite the bullet and introduce a newly extended gym offering. Riversmeet will be introducing Matrix Fitness to the table who are offering state of the art gym equipment alongside App enabled technology which works in partnership with the Cardio vascular section of the gym provision.

The new Matrix fitness brand will incorporate 26 Cardio vascular machines all App enabled, alongside 16 Resistance machines and an array of Squat racks, free weights and other gym equipment. This is an increase of cardio vascular and resistance machines giving our customers a bigger base to work from. We currently have 34 pieces of equipment increasing this to 42 so something for everyone. We are looking at replacing all of the flooring to the new and extended parts of the gym focusing on quality and branding across the Matrix range.

In October 2018 the newly revised membership scheme was introduced with more offers across the current range. We offer Annual memberships on Platinum memberships and Couples and families' memberships. We can boast that we can offer a membership for ALL, something we are very proud of. The new membership schemes start from £21 junior membership through to £55 Platinum membership which includes swim, gym and most classes.

On an on-going basis, the Trustees and Staff of RiversMeet are fully committed to ensuring that RiversMeet provides everyone in Gillingham and the surrounding area with a place where they can not only enjoy leisure activities, but also spend quality time with friends and family in a welcoming, pleasant and relaxing environment. Most importantly, because the leisure centre is a charitable trust which belongs to the community itself, everyone who visits is helping to continue to build upon the success of this important community asset.
